Communication!

Mama and I decided to remodel our bathroom. We needed more time where we could discuss those personal issues that are important to a marriage. You may think b/c the picture is humorous that this post is going to be the same. Not even close - I plan to take some shots at us guys, share from my heart.

1) Guys, who is in charge of family altar/devotion time? Mom or Dad? I was a slacker here. Mom got it going, I chimed in but really mama led it. I should have been the leader.
2) Fella's, do you pray with your wife? Or does that seem too unmacho like? We should do that. Our wives need that and our children need to catch us doing that every once in awhile.

A couple of years ago I counseled with my pastor about these two same issues in my own marriage. I still need to work on them more but I am doing much better at it. My grown children are still watching there dad. Just a couple of months ago our son "caught us" praying together, he is 38. My heart was blessed!

I suspect some of you that take a peek at this post may be a single parent or a one-person household. Make sure that personal and family devotion time are important and God will bless you. Thanks for letting me share from my heart. If you are ever in the neighborhood stop by to chat - I have a nice private place we can talk!

What a great post. As a single parent I do hope that when I am married my husband and I will always find that time to pray together. As for now with just the kids and I we do pray together but we probably need more "spiritual" time together.

Thanks for the post! I look forward to reading more.

I'm not single and I love the quality time with my husband. But the bathroom picture is a little TOO MUCH togetherness! =P

My favorite "church times" are those where we can't make it to corporate worship and my husband leads us in studies and prayer around the dinner table. He has so many insights that simply amaze me!

Crossview - that is terrific that he does that around the dinner table! I wish I had done that and set an example.

The one thing that I love so much about the Lord is that we are never too old or too late to take our place the way it is intended. We can't get back time lost, but HE can do miraculous things in our present. Our families still will see the difference today in Godliness.

HUBS does have devotions and prayer with me in the morning before work, and we have been busted by the kids praying for them. Some times they are thrilled, and sometimes it not. But God is always at work, and HIS ways are not mine...hope I soon get that through this thick head!

You know those times when your throat tightens, your eyes start to tear, & you don't really know how to describe what your feeling. That's what happened as I read this post. Not entirely sure of the emotion, but definitely moved & blessed!

Thanks for the personal post!

P.S. I think that toilet would be perfect for those with young children who always seem to interrupt & privacy has gone down the toilet :-D

Cute...

Great advice about the quiet times. Keep sharing your wisdom and keep praying for all us kids :) I also appreciate that you shared that Mama was the start to getting quiet times going in your family - great encouragement to young wives whose husbands aren't there yet.

Oh great news - Daniel is out of the hospital, but still keep him in your prayers - long journey ahead!

Another great one Papa! I really like this one. I love that you are so real and open before us. I would expect nothing less. =)

Vinny leads daily prayer with our family. We are all very blessed by that! I am very blessed!

Ya know...behind every good man is an even gooder woman! ;-)

YAY!!!! I think I am number 10! Does that mean you are going to make a new post. Thinking of you and mama this morning, hope all is well and that you are loving the ministry that God has set you up with! :)
