The Baseball

Recently there has been a commercial with a little boy who slips on a baseball glove, goes out in the yard, throws the ball - but there is no one to catch the ball or throw it back to him. The father killed by a drunk driver.

I once worked for a VP of a large drug company. On his desk was a baseball. If you asked him why the ball was there, he would tell you. It belonged to his son who died at 8 years of age from a sudden onset of a child's disease. He regretted the many times he could not play ball with his son and stated that family time is critical and precious. Then he would ask you; "What are you doing with your family today?"

Robin, Tam, Brandy, Darla, Crossview and all the other moms; What a role you have as a mom - I noticed a strong motherhood bond in blogging. WE dads need to be sure to "step up to the plate". Please dads - have a blast with father hood! Its an awesome responsibility!

My kids are still young enough that they don't mind being loved on :) They are actually both my little cuddle bugs. I tell them everyday how much I love them and tell them frequently that if God lined up all the kids in the world and told me I could have any two that I would pick both of them. It always makes their day.

Brandy - love those boys! I get so tickled with your "motherhood" insights.

Darla - my kids are closing in on 40 (oh my goodness!) and still don't mind being loved on.

Robin - Maybe you should ask God for two more just like em! That might be pushing it eh?

I would love two more just like them :) and so would they. They ask me just about every day for a baby brother and baby sister. Many people comment on how good they are with younger children. So you pray that if it's God's plan that it would happen :)

Wow,I'm praying for, loving on, encouraging, remembering my kids today. Kinda of strange with them having their own lives now...my how the roles change. The love never does tho. Papa, have you ever heard of Christian Cowboys, or Coy Huffman? Just curious. Blessings to you, hugs to mama. :)

No GG, never heard of Christian Cowboys or Coy Huffman.

Hi Papa, Coy and his wife Donna travel around the country and minister to the pro-rodeo circuit among other things....if you ever get a chance to listen to him, I think you'd enjoy it! Smiles.

Made me think of "The Cat's in the Cradle" song from way back.

I have moments where I'm awestruck that the Lord entrusted the care of His gifts to me. Ok, so sometimes I'm even terrified by it... But mostly, just really thankful!

A good Dad is such a tremendous blesing to children.

When little girls grow up, they tend to think of the Heavenly Father in terms of their earthly one. That can be a very good - or very bad- thing. =/
