"My name is Jesus, can I come in?"

If as you were reading this you heard the door bell ring, and you went to the door, answered it, and there stood Jesus, and you knew it was Him, no doubt, and He said; "My name is Jesus, can I come in? Would it be too much to ask you for some lunch?" What would you do? What would you talk about? What would He say to you?

I'd like to suggest some things. First no one that had Jesus in their home was embarassed or felt out of place - especially the sinners. They were excited! Second, the ones that felt out of place and uncomfortable were the religious leaders of the day. Remember, most people were relaxed and made to feel at home with Jesus. He is your friend!

Robin - when you come back, listen for the door bell! :o) You don't want to be too busy! (smile)

You are so right. We are asked by Jesus to feed, shelter, and love people. Like my husband said to me the other day, "You never know when you are entertaining angels." We really need to not be busy. Thank you for the reminder, God bless you and mama, love Tanya

As soon as I began reading this post I thought of the story about Martha and Mary. We are too busy lately, we need more structure, more time available for Jesus to come over! Thanks for the post.

Papa, the similarities are spooky =o

We should feel at home with our Lord. In any situation. A loving Father, which HE is, is safe. Comforting. Accepting. Gracious. Gentle.

Have you heard the song "My Heart your Home"? I lead it every now and then at church. it is one of my favorite songs...Here are the lyrics...

My Heart, Your Home Lyrics

CHORUS:
Come and make my heart Your home
Come and be everything I am and all I know
Search me through and through
‘Till my heart becomes a home for You

CHORUS

A home for You, Lord
A home for You, Lord
Let everything I do open up
A door for You to come through
And that my heart would be a place
Where You want to be…

CHORUS

You are my portion, filling up everything
You are the fortune, that’s causing my heart to sing
That it’s amazing…
That You could make Yourself at home with me

Tanya - I think we walk past Jesus and angels every day - and don't even know it. He expects us to do our best and loves us even when we walk by.

Tam - Jesus wants our heart - every little corner of it. I trust He has all of mine. Every once in awhile I have to do a little "heart cleaning". I loved the song.

Lori - I wonder how much of our busyness shuts Him out - and we don't see Him standing there as we rush out the door.

If He were here in the flesh, I'd do my best to kick my Martha out and let my Mary sit at His feet!

Laughter, learning, and fellowship- it would be glorious!

Crossview - I think you are right on! He had a way of making people feel so comfortable! Martha even felt comfortable getting on His case! :o) He just loved her! He loves us oh so much!!!

I would be SOOOOO excited to see Jesus standing at my door. Of course, there would be a huge battle between the 'Martha' in me (need to get the house picked up) and the 'Mary' in me (I just want to sit at His feet and hang on His every word). Mary would win, though. I know Jesus and He wouldn't care that there was a little dust in my house.

Great post!

I agree Heather! Jesus would be pleased to be there. What would you serve him for lunch?? I wonder if he likes Sardines? Maybe some chocolate something!

Morning papa...I would say yes...make Him an espresso and have lunch. I would have so many questions for Him it would probably last long into the night. We wouldn't talk about the past, that's been taken care of. I'm sure the conversation would be full of love and encouragement...
I wouldn't worry about the dust, or floors...or the phone. it would just be, me and Jesus...in fact, I think I'll go right now and just have...time. Love you!

DEB - when He comes by, invite me, I promise not to get in the way, just want to listen! I'll take a hot Chocolate, with whipped cream and marshmallows.

Papa, ur always invited! How fun will that day be when we get to meet you and Mama and we can ALL have a talk with Him! Be blessed today! You're His favorite you know! ;)

Deb - maybe we could talk Jesus into going horse back riding! Maybe he just might bring that beautiful White Arabian Stallion He is going to be riding when the Rapture takes place!

As I've been thinking about your post - something occurred to me. If Jesus is knocking on the door, that would indicate that He is on the outside, not the inside. As Believers, He's already on the inside! A little more thought provoking?

Of course, you were only speaking metaphorically, I know, just a little to think about!

Lori - He never opens the door - we do that. Even when He comes into our hearts we have to invite Him in. He wants to come in, but only by invitation! :o) !!

I haven't responded until now because I am speechless. If Jesus were actually at my door in person, faith was made site, I think I would be speechless for a couple of moments. Since most of my comments are long winded, I know you find that hard to believe...that I could be speechless. Then I would probably say, "What are you doing here?" Stick my foot in my mouth and say all the wrong things, and He would just laugh and say, "Carol, Carol, Carol...you've been waiting for this moment, and here I am. Let's spend some time together." Then I would say, "Let's not stay inside where it's so stuffy...let's take a walk. I'd give Him a quick snack to munch along the way and then we would head out to the lakefront. I think He would be comfortable near the water. And I have this shoreline thing about being with Him...He would know. Then I would let my tears flow, and all the things hidden in my heart that has caused me pain that I have given to Him (so to speak) would just flow out of me so He could soothe me with His words, His knowledge, His reasons, His purposes. Oh, Jesus, please come to my door...SOON!
