Big weekend planned - Whats your plans?

Tomorrow, Saturday mama and I head north for a big weekend. We will attend my high school Alumni Banquet at Buckley, MI Saturday evening. On Sunday we will attend church in my "home" church. Sunday afternoon we will get together w/Kelly a blogger for ice cream with her family. We have never met. We are all excited about that. On Monday morning we will attend a Memorial Day parade and then go visit cemeteries where are closest loved ones are buried.

What are your plans for this holiday weekend? Gas prices I am sure will put a cramp into the activities. I have also been thinking about my high school years. What memories do you have of your high school days? I was in the "Class of 1961". After tomorrow morning I will be off-line until late Monday or Tuesday.

Well, I will be breaking into a house on the Camp grounds just down the street from the campfire people. The couple who live there are going away for a Big Weekend. They may leave some money laying around while they are gone.

cookouts and lots of rest...that is what we are looking forward to..I used to go to the cementary on this holiday...not this year..this year I am going to fight for focus, and remember them with prayers of thankfulness for the lives they shared with me...now a part of my great cloud of witnesses! Happy Memorial day weekend papa and mama!

Darla - I enjoy cemetery visits. A few years ago I discovered letters written over a 100 years ago by my great great grandmother - found out she was buried an hour from here. Her letters tell quite a story.

No long trips this weekend. Just had to pay $800 for brakes on the truck. NOT what we had planned for that big government check(yet to come), but glad we didn't already have it spent!!

Tonight - going to hubby's 50th reunion with classmates. He didn't graduate with them as he moved away in the 10th grade, but they invited him anyway. His actual 50th graduating class party is in a couple of weeks.

Will be spending tomorrow playing cards with some friends. Sunday will be spent worshipping the Lord and Monday at home. Hope everyone gets finished with their Holiday plans before the expected rains start here!

Tam - We will drive safe - we will both share the driving. Weather looks to be okay. I will be sure to give Kelly huge hugs. That should happen around 11:30AM Oregon time. enjoy your one-legged Yoga class. With one leg you could probably get a job as a waitress at IHOP.

We aren't doing too much and you are right gas prices tie us down.

I saw online today that people are planning stacations because of the gas prices - sounds good to me.

Indian Lake Papa said...

Robin - if I didn't have specific plans for this weekend, I would stay home too!

Wow! You have lots going on this weekend! Have a wonderful time at the reunion..
We're having a get-together to celebrate my "baby's" 12th birthday. We're grilling kebabs if the rain stays away. If not, it'll be spaghetti for all....

And we're going to see Prince Caspian on Monday.
No road trips for us...

And don't eat too much ice cream. =P

Oh man!!!!!!! The IHOP joke to Tam from papa was at 7:56 p.m. last night....I didn't get it, and haven't been thinking about it, but it just popped into my head what it means!!!

It will be good to have a few days "off" without papa's jokes!!! I need to recuperate and get ready for the onslaught when they return! I'm sure he will have some "tall tales" to tell when they get back.

Praying for a safe journey for them.

I am SOOOO jealous of Kelly! And you!! I hear her house is a lot like mine. ;-) heehee

Hope your trip is a safe one! Love you two!

Papa! it's a good thing I didn't see your comment wondering if you should be scared BEFORE I actually met you...I would have made sure I tried hard to scare you! ;)
Tam, he really gave me two hugs in a row, he said the second one was from you:):):)
Well everyone, I think Papa has pulled one over on us all....my husband's comment after we left the restaurant was "you know that verse about entertaining angels unaware?!" We could have spent 10 hours with them and it wouldn't have been enough!! Just to listen to them share stories, made me smile from the inside out:) And to spend time with Papa....on my Dad's birthday (my dad died two years ago) was the biggest gift from God ever! I'm still smiling:) Love you so much Papa and Mama!!

I am very jealous of kelly today... ;) well I am happy for her to spend time with you..OKAY! I am going to my room to think about it, and to pray for myself! sheeesh...I just felt the fatherly thing breathing hard my direction.. Love you mama and papa....and yes I love Kelly too! :)

Indian Lake Papa said...

Janis - I figured you would finally get it - I was concerned though!:o)

We did have a great weekend !! Several highlights! Meeting Kelly was one of those and that was great!

I did take a "compromising" picture of mama that I need to post! :o) She has not seen it yet - I will have to get her permission first!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Kelly - I have been told I was an angel, but usually they put me in the devil's band! Your comments made me cry. As you know, mama and I want to "adopt" you all as our children. So far we have met two - Crossview and Kelly. We have removed them from our Will since having met them! :O) Ha! We love you all!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Darla - one of the things that mama stressed to Kelly as we talked and shared is that we see this as a ministry. Not because mama and papa have done it all right but that in spite of the mistakes you CAN move ahead. I am sure one of these days we shall meet!

Brandy - Kelly has five! You have two to go! Did that give you chills?! ha! We had a wonderful trip!!
