Celebrate your Marriage !!

Mama and I will have been married 43 years this July. We are going to do something special - maybe you can do this too! We are going to attend a "marriage retreat" at Mackinac Island, MI on October 6-7, 2008. It is called "Celebrate your Marriage!" Guest speaker will be Dr. Kevin Leman with Jay and Laura Laffon. Joby Saad, comedian will also be there. We are already getting excited - we will be staying at the Grand Hotel on the island! We would be tickled if you could be there also! To register you can go to Celebrate and check out the info.

The two pictures are of us - 43 years ago. mama's hair has a tint of gray in it now other than that she is the same today! Me? Well - I am about the same height!

Here we are sneaking out after the wedding. We wanted to go watch a baseball game on TV.

First...CONGRATULATIONS!! 43 years is a long time and it is very clear that you two are still very much in love. What an example you are. If God ever brings me an earthly husband, I will be calling for advice!!!!

Love the pictures. Especially the one of you guys sneaking out! :)

What a blessing it is to 'know' you. I am so happy for you.

Love and God's blessings....

Thanks Heather - I think we are quite happy. We have a lot of fun together! Life has been good. We still "sneak out" once in awhile! Call anytime!!

Papa, do you have to be married first to register? :)

Who is that young, good looking, guy in the pictures?

I hope to be reading about these marriage celebrations far into the future.

Hey Ed - maybe I could hook you up with one of the "widow ladies" here on the camp and we could "double date" to the conference!:o) We have a couple of retired preacher's wives that are widowed that might be just the ticket. We could have a wedding right here on this church camp - maybe Tam could be Matron of Honor and Brandy (Little One) be the Flower Girl. I bet they'd come to see that!

The guy in the picture?? That's mama's first husband! I am her last husband.

My husband and I attended the Celebrate Your Marriage retreat, same place, two years ago...and the weather was in the 70's in October, and all of the quaint little shops had their year end clearance prices. Don't forget to buy some fudge while you are there. If your readers don't know about Mackinac Island...it's worth researching...and the Grand Hotel is top of the line. Hope you get a view of Lake Michigan from your room! Wish we could join you, but we'll be in Traverse City that week, and going to the Island on the weekend after you leave. Don't buy all the fudge or clearance items!! Save some for us!

Crossview - we are going to work at it! i just need to be a little more forceful on this "Master" / "Obedience" thing. Oh my, your such a young thing!

CDC - we love the island and the shops! We are looking forward to going.

hahahaha you two are so funny sneaking out!

We have gone to one similar.."I still Do" and at the end of the weekend we all got married at once..very sweet! 1000 couples at Baltimore Inner Harbour...

I would encourage everyone to go to something like this as often as you can...it really does help.

Darla - I am sure we will enjoy it! After all, we are friends!

Congratulations Papa and Mama. Jerry and I just celebrated 13 years on the 20th. It's so easy with the right one! God is so good and has blessed us beyond what we can ask or think...like role models in blogland!! :) Those pictures are precious!!! Love you both!

I didn't know until this morning that mama made a comment. We really are best of friends. Our friendship has gotten stronger through the years.

Deb - I definitely got the right one - mama is still not sure about her choice! :o) Maybe its others who think mama has her hands full.

Unknown said...

Oh Mama HAS to have her hands full for sure!

Love you two!

Daizy said...

Well, I want to comment on your answer to Tam's reply that seems skeptical of the reason you were sneaking out. Anyone can make up baseball scores.

Indian Lake Papa said...

Tam - I am just as easy to get along with as you can imagine - I was very trainable from the get go!

Daizy! Are you implying I made up the baseball scores ?? Why shame on you !!

mandy said...

YAY!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Mandy - I have trained mama well - don't you think? She has a few "wrinkles" yet, (no pun intended) but in October will get those straightened out!

Brandy said...

uh huh, a "baseball game" riiiiiiight. *wink*wink*nudge*nudge*

Love you two!
