I Love Horses - But - a scary ride!

I Love horses! They are one of God's favorite creatures! They are so intelligent! But, at times they can be scary - especially if they take control! That happened the other day! I was scared and was caught totally off guard!

I consider myself a fairly good good rider - even at 64 and with my physical limitations. As a youth I was good - very good. If you didn't believe it all you had to do was ask me. Any speed event I could do very well- I could hold my own! My brother thought he was better, but I just let him win some of the time.

About a year ago I bought Amos - my present horse. He is great! He always likes to test a new rider to see what he can get away with, but we have "discussed" that issue in detail and have come to an acceptable understanding.

Well the other day I rode a different horse and I couldn't control it. It was cantering too fast, would not turn and I could not get it to stop! Mama was in a panic - screaming and praying at the same time! Finally, after what seemed like minutes, but probably seconds, the manager of the store came over and just pulled the plug! Whew - that was close!

Have you ever gotten into a life crisis because you just thought you could handle it? Then found out - this simple issue - was more than you could take care of? You just needed someone to "pull the plug" so you could get off? Well - be careful - always use good judgement and listen to those who have good Christian sense. And it helps if someone knows where the plug or switch is!

After my near miss, mama was upset! She put a big yellow sign in the window! Trying to sell me!

This is Mama

Just like Papa we sometimes get on rides we have no business being on and we need to cry out to God to pull the plug and help us off.

Aren't we so very thankful He still helps us out even when we don't use good judgement.

By the way my HONEY is not for sale! :) Mama

You had me going there, Papa! I was really scared for you. I love how you can build the story and then present the punch line and hit home with it! Good post! Liked the picture!

Mama I didn't think you would really sell your honey...good honey is hard to come by...have to hold on and be stingy with the good ones we have! :)

Carol - It was a tough ride but I survived. I just got back moments ago from riding Amos - he was full of vim and vigor today. Had a great ride, saw several deer, a couple of Sand Hill Cranes w/two little ones! Gods creation is wonderful!

Darla - Mama did make a mistake on her yellow sign. She spelled it "local" when she meant "loco"!

Brandy - mama got a kick out of it as well! The picture was taken in Pigeon Forge, TN. life is fun Little One!

you are so attentive to the Spirit. Everything is a God lesson with you. I love it!!!

But when I got the "pull the plug" part I about fell off my chair Papa!

Mama - you're right. Often times we find ourselves in places we have no right being. Can be easily done. Praise Him HE always know where the plug is!

Tam - So many times we head down that road, an easy task ahead of us, so easy we forget to pray or ask God's guidance. Then all of a sudden we are in over our heads - help ! Someone stop this! Christ is there! He really cares!

Papa, you did have me going for away. I pictured you hanging on to a horse for dear life until I saw the picture. :)

I hope Amos doesn't know you cheated on him with another horse. :)

The horse in the picture is probably the only kind I could handle. I did love riding the carousel as a child. I don't remember if I ever got the brass ring though.

Papa you can always, ALWAYS bring a smile and a giggle from me. You are so funny! I love how you always tie everything, even you *ahem* horse, back to Jesus. Mama's gonna have to keep an eye on our Papa...

I haved learned to love and listen when the Lord pulls my plug from something...it always, ALWAYS is for the greater good, and His glory. Thank you Papa and Mama...Love you!

Julie - I did survive! A tough ride but I did good - well, okay! ha!

Deb - come on over - we can ride those ponies for only a penny! Mama knows how to pull the plug!

Papa, you ARE a hoot, and I don't think I have ever even used that word! But I think it must have been hiding in my brain all of these years just for you!
Your story reminds me of Jesus calling Lazarus to come out of the grave. He "pulled the plug" on his situation, or in his case plugged it back in! but then told Lazarus' friends to unwrap his grave clothes. We need God, we need each other:)
That pony picture is something else! Mama, you've got your hands full! I know because my husband has that same humor! You two silly men are gonna get along great!
Oh yeah...we actually get to meet papa and mama in person next weekend! Apparently there IS someone else in this blog world that lives in the great north tundra other than me;)
Mama, thanks for adding some "sensibility" to papa's funnies!

Cathi - it looks like you stopped by quite late - after 1am ! Papa was in bed already! It looks like they had fun at Mandy's blog!

Yep Kelly, just a little over a week from now! We shall meet - I love to meet new people - blogging is fun! Almost as much fun as riding horse's or store ponies! Ha!

Ok,I fell for it. I did a double take when I got to the punchline! =P

But I love that photo! You sure that pony isn't too much for you??!!

Isn't it grand that God gives us so many friends!!!! Even ones we may never see till we get to Heaven. You have so many here on the blog site. This shows your 'inner beauty' shines through to the outside. How's that for mush?

Heather said...

LOL! Papa....you really had me for a moment. Here I was, worried about your safety and poor mama having to watch. Love the pic, though:)

I always love your posts. As Tam said...you are so 'attentive to the Spirit'. Enjoy the ride, Papa.

Love and Blessings...

You're a nut!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Crossview - sorry to catch you off guard! Ha! I will be careful of those little ponies! Are you back on line again?

Daizy - I love the mush! Coming from you thats important - you see me every day! I hope my life lives up to what I profess - especially the nut part!Ha!

Heather - I am having fun - and God is good. Mama and I are really trying to be a blessing. This morning a widow lady about my age called and asked if i could mow her lawn, as she has been ill, - I wept - I want to be of service to Jesus.
We have to stay focused on him!

La - A nut ??!! Who me ?? You should have been to the campfire last night! They were all over me! Why would anyone pick on poor papa ???!!

Renee said...

Oh my word! I believed every part of your story...I was really "going along for the ride!"

I can definitely relate to the post! Thanks for the reminder!

Anonymous said...

Papa, you asked why anyone would pick on poor papa???

Gee, I can't imagine. Just an unbelievable thought, really.

Papa is such a quiet, shy, guy. There is just no way anyone would pick on him!!
