The letter!

The above letter was written February 1965. It was one of my last letters of about 800 I wrote to mama from 1962 to 1965. In the letter I tell her that I will be home on March 3, 1965 - almost 90 days earlier than she thought. We had not seen each other for 15 months, I was stationed on the Island of Crete in the Mediterranean. (quick side note: mama knows I am writing this and just held up her "wedding panties"" to show me she still has them! She says she will wear them on our anniversary in July - thats a long ways off! Now where were we??) Oh yes, when mama read that I was coming home early - she screamed and her mother panic'd and thought she had got hurt! Now she had to get ready to meet me - sooner than she planned - a wedding to put together and excitement at our soon meeting. No more letters to write - only a couple more coming from me.

You do know Jesus is coming soon don't you??? Have you been reading his letters, he has been telling you. Are you ready? Keep reading his letters. Someday you will read them for the last time.

You can "click" on the letter and it should enlarge so you can read it - I only did the first page - the rest is none of your business! Sorry about mama and her panties incident - didn't mean to distract you - you are not letting things distract you from getting ready to meet Jesus are you?

This is Mama. Oh My! I didn't know Papa was putting all of this in his blog! I was cleaning out my drawer and found the letter and... I had no idea that I would be his topic. I guess that shows you that you never know what people are seeing and thinking. So as you go through the day remember someone is seeing and watching.

I hope you all have a good day and know His love as I know papa loves me and so does Jesus. Mama

Good post! Good reminder that Jesus is coming any day now and we need to be ready and focused on Him.

Love and Blessings..

Hi Papa, this is exactly what we talked about today at Bible study (well, not exactly, we never mentioned Mama's panties). We're studying I John and in chapter 4 it speaks about knowing who are the real prophets and how we need to discern the truth. We learned that we must first know Jesus and that takes communication and the best form of cummunications is the written word, His written Word. Perfect post for today. . .btw, Mama's panties, tmi.

Indian Lake Papa said...

L A - tmi ?? :o) Mama says - close! Ha! We have laughed so much today.

L A - I hope you are having fun today as much as mama and I are, but be sure to stay focused on Jesus.

Janis - Heh - Heh! You know mama so this mental visual must be driving you crazy today! ha!

I guess you've been a comedian since before I was born. How neat that she has kept your letters - great tie in to the most important letters ever written.

I'm feeling a touch better today, but not 100%. My kids are both back at 200% oh boy...

this reading of mama's panties makes me feel like i need to be saved!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Robin - So glad you are better - The kids sound good too! Mama is funny too! I guess she didn't want me to put a picture of lace on the blog! I see "whats her name" Jess dropped by!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Jess! So glad to hear from you!!!! I love to see your comments! Folks she is the one who is to blame for mama and I getting into the blogging world!! love you Jess!! I decided not to comment on your blog unless you dropped by on mine! Ha! Are you coming up here this summer??

Papa, I can see you had the same gift for words, and sense of humor, as you do now. I would guess if I could read the rest of the letter I would see how romantic you were. :)

Mama saved that letter for over 40 years. It is great to see a love that has passed the test of time.

Indian Lake Papa said...

Ed - Sometimes I get a little nervous with my "sense of humor". If it involves mama, I get clearance first! Todays post had mama in tears laughing. She is my sweetheart. Ed - she is one of a kind - very special. If we do get to do lunch some day, I WILL bring mama - you have to meet her.

I can't get past this: Oh, my!!!!

Ok, now I am past the... Oh my!

I have been thinking all day about the difference between Mama Christian and Janis Christian.

Mama Christian is laughing and enjoying this whole thing. If Janis Christian's husband would have pulled this stunt, Janis Christian would be beet red with embarrassment and looking for the nearest murder weapon!!! But then she would remember, "Thou Shalt Not Kill", so Janis Christian would just beat him "almost" to death.....with a pleasant smile, of course!!

Oh, my!!

Papa. who said i wore any on my wedding day?

Carol said...

Mama must be a romantic to have kept her letters and panties all these years. Thing is....she is still slender enough to wear those panties, I'll bet! You chose well, Papa! Sounds like Mama is getting hooked on the blogging thing now also!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Janis - I thought about your hub saying this and then wondered if mama and I would be able to attend the funral! I would never say anything like that without mama's permission. I was right in the middle of my post when out of no where she held them up . To say I wasn't distracted would be a lie! You did note she made the first comment! :o)

Tam - Oh my TMI !!! TMI !!! :o)

CDC - your right! Mama can still wear them - with no problem. Me - there is not much I can still wear - lets see, oh yes, my glasses!

Hubby and I have been married 47 years and we still have all the letters....no panties!!!

Janis

Indian Lake Papa said...

Janis - do you want to elaborate or would that be TMI ? 47 years - Bless your hubby!

Don't know what TMI means. Do I want to know????

Please wish Marion a Happy Birthday from Howie and I. She is such a sweet lady....must be where mama gets it....mama sure doesn't get it from papa!!! hee hee! Good one Janis.

Janis - will tell her happy birthday. Mama definitely got her sweetness from her mom. I don't think her mom helped pick out the panties though!

Kimberly McKay said...

Very sweet. You two are so blessed to have one another!

Indian Lake Papa said...

WOW - i am so blessed! Many that know us may argue about mama being so blessed! Ha!

Tanya said...

You are so right Papa, I never thought about it in that way. When I was stationed in Germany and Jeff in Maryland, I was so excited to come home to him. We should be ready and excited for our Bride Groom to come back to us. He will be here faster than we even realize. I love your post, I ignored the panty thing. I figure it is none of my buisness. God bless both of you. Love Tanya

Indian Lake Papa said...

Its funny Tanya about the "pantie thing"' - it really was aimed as a distractor from the blog - we get distracted so easily. You are right, we need to stay focused on our Lord and King. keep focused lady!

The Lord picked mama to have papa because He knew no one else could still smile after all these years!!Papa is so right....he is blessed.

Have only known mama and papa a short time since we all winter in Florida. Have learned to love and appreciate them both. They are great Christian people.

Oh, dear. My fingers gave papa a compliment. My mind didn't mean to let that happen!!!!!

Janis - I may print that, frame it and put it on the wall. Thank you!

Hey Papa, this is wonderful. You really have a talent for relating everyday life to life with Jesus.
I started a blog on this site. It is called A Field of Daizy's. There is not much on it yet, but visit it anyway. I'll get more on there.

Mama, you're always his topic, that's why we love you both so. Thank you for the reminder that in such a short time we will be seeing Him face to face....He will come for His bride...I can't wait!!!! Uh, now I have panty image in my head....LOL You guys are amazing....Love you! PS...Do you realize how many "kids" you have now???? :)

Indian Lake Papa said...

Indian Lake Papa said...

Deb (GG) - mama and I are always thankful to have more "kids"! We will take credit for your successes, but your goof-ups are your fault! :o) We need a family reunion!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Darla - Mama and I have a lot of fun together. The biggest asset in our marriage is I am learning to communicate and listen to mama. Your right - Tam TMI! I am a visual person - Tam's comment made me go blind!

Thanks soooooo much for coming to my blog to visit!!!

I am so glad you found my blog so I could find yours. Your letter post would make a great movie.

And Mama, I'm thinking Papa is a TRUE BLOGGER - - - we are ALWAYS seeing our "next post" in things other people hardly notice.

Better come back and visit my blog and see what I've been saying about you there.

If you wouldn't mind, you could e-mail me either this photo you use as an avatar - - - or another - - - and I'd put that on my post. (You can find my e-mail through my profile.)
