What in the world ........ ????

What in the world is mama doing?? can you figure this out?? We were at my "home town", in Buckley, MI at the Memorial Day Parade !! Mama was getting candy!! When is the last time you got some parade candy?? Mama gave most of it away - I got a few pieces of Snicker pieces - good!

Most adults would not do this - including papa - but mama is a free spirit - if she wants to do something, very little holds her back. She is my very special lady. She has confidence in herself and is not intimidated by what others may think - and yet she is the kindest sweetest lady I know - really!! I love you mama - never, ever, change. Thank you Lord for giving me mama.

This is mama -

Oh Dear! I guess I am a "big kid" at heart. I didn't want to see the candy go to waste so I was picking it up before it got ran over. I would never take it away from a child. Like Papa said I gave most of it away.

Sometimes things in life come falling at our feet. We can pick them up, over look them, keep them or give them away. The choice is up to you.

Hope you are making good choices, and not worrying what others think of you.

Love Mama

Mama, your comment here knocked me off my feet!

"Sometimes things in life come falling at our feet. We can pick them up, over look them, keep them or give them away. The choice is up to you."

I want to be just like you when I grow up. Of course, that comes after wanting to be like Christ ;)

You are top-notch Mama!

and I love you!!

Yeah! It's Mama talking! We love that. As I said yesterday, your countenance is so beautiful. I see HIM in you. In the pic, I see you doing what you would do anywhere you are....what is right! That is what mama's do. Thank you for the example you set in reminding us as moms to do the same. whether it is candy or bandaids! my little jessie (alomost 13) scuffed her knee today. She just brought me ointment, gauze and tape. "mama, is this what I use?" "yes, would you like me to help you?"
"it's ok, mama, I got it." While I was reading your post, mama, I was reminded of the power of being a mom! I am going to go and help her with it now, even though she said she could do it herself!
You two sleep well.

Reminds me of the Mardi Gras parades in Louisiana.... LOL!

Storie - I wish I could get mama to chat more! i always encourage her to chat. I do not post anything about her without her permission. She has great insight and is an excellent Christian lady who does it all right!

Crossview - never made it to Mardi Gras - we lived in Louisiana for 5 years! We made it to New Orleans for a weekend once - that was enough for mama - we stayed in the French Quarter.

Papa, you should have taken pictures of Mama the two weeks she was volunteering at Work and Win!! My husband and I agree...there is no harder nor more consistent worker than Mama. She always shows up, she tackles some of the hardest, non-popular tasks, and she sees it through to the end. Anything she does has no need of being redone!! Besides all of that, she's a pleasure and a treasure to work along side of! For the life of me, I'm not sure what you did to deserve this lady! She's a queen...and for Father's Day I hope you get HER a hammock! Only thing...I know she won't spend much time in it...she's too busy!

P.S. Daisy and I are attending the late service this morning...in case the timing of my post makes you think I skipped church today!

Lots of memories of picking up candy at parades. Remember one little girl in particular who I didn't know at all but she kept pointing out the candy to me so I could get it for her. Her mother laughed and asked if I realized the little one was enjoying the fact that I was doing the work!! That was ok, I enjoyed "serving" her. I also enjoy serving the Lord and know that he is happy when we pick up candy (work) for him!

Hi Janis - We love a parade - I am glad we can still follow Jesus! Just keep picking up that candy!

Mama is a keeper :)

I'd pick it up too, but my husband would go up to the candy tosser and somehow end up with more than the rest of us... it's his special talent :)

Robin said...

Oh and I forgot to say the candy I'd pick up would be for my kids unless of course the word Reeses was written on it and then its ALL MINE :)

Oh funny side story my kids know I'm crazy about Reeses cups and they always like to give them to me if they get spares. One day my pastor's wife gave the kids each a Reeses cup and they immediately handed them to me no questions asked and I just said thanks with a huge smile. She didn't know that it was their gift of love :) And of course they had other candy to choose from since we had just left Trunk or Treat :)

Robin - mama is definitely a keeper! We both like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups - and I don't even care for Peanut butter!!

Papa, you are definetely blessed to have Mama! She is one amazing woman! You would think that most people, as they age, would sit back and let the world "do for them", but not Mama, she still has too much inside of her to give still, doesn't she?! She has more light and life in her eyes than anyone I have ever met!
Mama, I love it when things just fall at our feet. Could it be that we just happen to be standing on God's "parade route"?! I happen to think so!
And not worrying what others think...what a freedom...I'm living in that now, there is nothing like it!
Mama, thank you for your gems that you share. I am collecting them in my heart. They are the most precious gems I have!
I love you both dearly Papa and Mama!!

Kelly - mama is my life - I would be lost without her - she keeps me going. i am so glad you got to meet her. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting you - last night as mama and I prayed together she poured out her concern for you and your family as you search for a new home. We love you!

BP is something we're working on here, too. It was never a problem when we were young.... =P

You two are stuck with me being nosy, now. I've laid claim to you both!

Indian Lake Papa said...

The bunny lives! ha! Bp has been my nemiss for years! if I minded "nosy" I wouldn't blog! ha! i am not sure if you are one of my kids or just a younger sister - I did say younger!

Mama...not only does your concern warm my heart, but I'm certain that your prayers will move heaven and earth on our behalf! I just have a feeling God WILL listen to Mama. Doesn't everyone? Am I right Papa? LOL!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Mama isn't here right now - she is over painting her mothers living room - she loves to serve. Kelly - if you only knew how much mama prays. She is my prayer mentor. When we pray together we take turns and pray out loud - I listen very intently as mama prays - she is so sensitive to her relationship w/Christ. I am blessed Kelly - oh so blessed.

You just make me teary all the time Papa!!! :D

I love you!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Brandy - I wish we could sit down and talk - it may be just frivolous talk - but you would know papa's heart really loves you. Mama and I will be having our prayer time soon - we will remember you by name! "Puss och Kram" - that is Swedish!

Hi Papa! I haven't been here for while, but I can see you are still encouraging everyone, just as when I left.

It has taken me a very long time to learn to be confident. I don't have confidence in ME, but in who I am in Christ.

Mama is a God-fearing woman, that is why she has so much confidence! The Lord does that to us, if we allow!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Hi Lori ! welcome back! Missed you! Mama is okay ain't she?!! I have trained her well - 43 years of training from papa she should be getting it right! ha!
