Independence Day!

4th of July was very special this year! hope yours was as well. We had 40 people at our peak on the 4th. All were at our house for lunch on the 4th. The picture above was taken that evening in celebration of mama's mom's 90th birthday. Mama is at her mother's right shoulder. The others are mama's sister & brothers.

This is also a very special picture - This is Hoozat Lady - a blogger who has been stalking my blog ( lol ) and occasionally leaving a comment or two. You can check her blog out from my blog roll. She spent two days at our house - she is a good friend of my son's. When we hugged as she was leaving papa cried. She is a very precious lady - Love you Hoozat Lady!

I hope your Independence Day was a day of thanksgiving. We did a lot of family things together - only because men & women have sacrificed their lives for our freedom over the years. Do not take your freedom lightly. Be thankful for it - and when need be - stand up for it!

Robin - Have had a wonderful time - however Sherry's husband Alan, the one with MS I have talked about just went to be with Jesus less than an hour ago. Please pray for Sherry.

Papa-
What an awesome time you have had. I'm so glad for you!

However, my heart is breaking for Sherry. I will be praying for her. Praise God he is with Jesus. There is, at least, some comfort in THAT:)

Love you and Mama!!!

Heather - He (Sherry's) husband was a wonderful man and pastor. He has had severe case of Ms for many years. Sherry took care of him mostly by herself. Never put him in a special care facility. He passed away at home - she has many friends and family with her. Several weeks ago - several neighbors went to the house for "church". They listened to Alan preach his last sermon he gave, it was on Cassette Tape and was about healing. Probably recorded 20 years ago. He died at the age of about 65.

Dear Papa and Mama,
Found your link through Keetha's blog. Like you, I can't attend her blog picnic.

I thought I'd leave you a comment since I've figured out you're in Michigan. I'm a former Michigander and still have three sisters there, 2 in Bronson and 1 near Mt. Pleasant - are they anywhere near Indian Lake?

Love your Christian testimony and your picture of Taqumanon (sp?) Falls - been there, want to go back.

Hi Char! Thanks for stopping by! We are about 2.5 hours south of Mt. pleasant and only 30 minutes from Bronson. We are nearest Vicksburg, MI. Mama and Papa love visitors!

goodbyes are painful..must be part of the curse... LOL i am blaming everything on that...in heaven we won't have to say goodbye again...can't wait to meet you and mama, and yes i will cry when its time to say goodbye...but it will be so worth it...

Darla - so anxious to see you all! We are planning on you coming. It will be a very relaxed time - so be ready to kind of kick back! lol We got a tourist packet of Oregon today - we are anxious to go out there!

Get ready for your jaw to drop..the east coast has many beautiful things, but God was showing off out there in Oregon. Love!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Darla - we love to travel - the west coast is one area we have not seen much of. We loved the Adirondacks in NY, we lived there 5 years.

Hey Papa and Mama,
Have you missed me? Howie and I have been camping and I thought about you on the 4th!!! Our kids and part of the grandkids were at the campground for awhile that day and we had a good time.

We are home only for a few hours to mow, haircut, and dentist...yuk! Will be heading back to the campground until Friday. Sure miss being able to be online!

Have prayed for Sherry and her family that God will give comfort during the coming months.

Gotta get going.

Wow Papa...you know how to party!!!! LOL Love you guys...maybe some year we can celebrate together...this year we'll just celebrate whatever in october!!! Love you!

Gatorbabe said...

Yes, it was a great party. My family looks forward to it every year. Indian Lake Papa can really throw down the grilled turkey.

Sorry to hear about the friend with MS. Each new story I hear helps motivate me to keep riding to help find better treatments. This year we will be three generations riding.

Wish it wasn't so far to Michigan, we'd come more often. Thanks for your hospitality.

Indian Lake Papa said...

Hi Deb - Yep, Papa is a real party animal! lol But please, do not come on the 4th of July! We had 47 in and out this year! We could have went over 50 if others from mama's family could have made it! ha!

I am not real sure who Gatorbabe is but I believe it is a niece from Kansas! New to the blog community. They ride bikes in the MS 150 each fall. A worthy deed! Laura, if this is you, welcome to my blog! Still plan on doing a float next year?

Char said...

So, you've actually heard of Bronson! What a hoot. We used to play Vicksburg in basket ball.

We won't be coming to Mich. this summer. My son is in Driver's Ed and other things are preventing our travel. Will keep you in mind for next summer, though.

Indian Lake Papa said...

Hi Char - yep, I kinda know where Bronson is - ha! Hope you can get up this way next year!

Char said...

With your permission, I'll make a note for next Summer. My family thinks I'm nuts to try to track down blogger friends, but it worked with Keetha! I actually have a niece and nephew in Marion which is why that worked out.

Gatorbabe said...

Yes, it's me. I'll have to tell you about the nickname some time. I even had a Gatorade water bottle until I ran over it with the car. :(

I was hearing several who want to do another float. I think it might be a group consensus for next year. Rumor has it one of the boycotters didn't want a float in a parade that was not actually on the 4th. :) That shouldn't be a problem next year. We need to get the word out at the lake too, maybe the parade will be more than 10 minutes long if we get some competition! :)

Indian Lake Papa said...

Char - you bet! would love to see you and meet you - please feel welcomed!

Gatorbabe - the float plan is yours - I can help with ideas if you need me.

Gatorbabe said...

I'd love to have your ideas. I'm more of the "doer" than the "dreamer". I tell people when I make things, I follow patterns, I let someone else create the patterns. :)
