Pray for Brittany!

Papa went to the Prayer Cottage this morning and was deeply troubled. At the Prayer Cottage there is usually a stack of prayer request cards that can be prayed over. Today I checked the mail box by the door of the cottage and found several new prayer request cards. I would like to share the one written by Brittany a child - I do not know her - here is her request in her words;

THE HEAVIEST CONCERN ON MY HEART TODAY IS: "If I am ever going to see my mom or dad. If I'm ever going to really know god or Jesus."
PLEASE HELP ME PRAY ABOUT: "My mom and dad that are both in prison. Me knowing God"
Brittany

Papa is broken today - I will carry this burden deeply through the day. Pray for Brittany and other children who are dealing with issues of separation from family.

Many of you who read papa's blog may have family separation issues, papa and mama will be praying for you today.

I will definitly keep this in pray and for all the children who are seperated from their parents. I find it interesting that even children that are with their parents are seperated, by distractions. God bless you for having such a heart for Jesus. Love Tanya

Good morning Tanya - when i was in the prayer cottage reading this I was so broken and angry at Satan for his destructive powers. Pray for the children!

A little perspective changes one's attitude, doesn't it? I've been fretting over finances this morning, so thank you for sharing this with us. I will be praying.

Julie - We really have trouble with perspective sometimes - I was very frustrated the other day because I misplaced something - brother, that was dumb! Especially when it was my fault! I am looking at Brittany's prayer card laying right here in front of my computer - Jesus, help this young girl!

Every morning during Family Camp at 7 a.m. I was at the tabernacle altar praying for the services and praying over a stack of the prayer requests cards. Seems like most of them dealt with praying for children or spouses that were not saved; praying for someone who had cancer...there's lot of cancer going around these days!; praying for situations in families or churches; pray for financial struggles; those common issues that people who are alive face. But this card you found this morning, Papa, is a very sad situation. I am glad that God allowed you to pick this one up and take it to heart and pass the request along to your blogging buddies.

I had prayer with various people during this past week, and I can only say we live in a tragic world. Without naming names or giving away any identities, here's a few situations I found myself praying about with individuals:

1. A mother whose adult son struggles with homosexuality.
2. A teenage girl who just lost her virginity in a one night casual "let's have fun" fling.
3. A brother involved in witchcraft.
4. A teenage boy who roams the street while his mother has illicit affairs at home.
5. A young woman who is so confused about life, and sexual allurement seems to be her way of getting the attention she seeks.

The list goes on. This is a different world than what I grew up in. My heart breaks for what our young people have to deal with. Drugs available at every turn; parents who don't care where or with whom or how their kids spend time; the peer pressure to "perform". I am afraid for what my granddaughters will face as they grow up. I do not aspire to be a youth worker these days...they have to deal with such heavy issues. May God help us all, for we are on the brink of disaster, except for His grace!

I'm so glad Papa and Mama are prayer warriors, and carry the burdens for others. We are with you on this one!

This is Mama

I also found one of those cards that broke my heart. It too was written by a girl. I don't have her card in front of me but the request went something like this: "My Mom doesn't want me. She is expecting a baby and I don't want the baby to be unwanted as I am." SO SAD!! I wonder how old the girl is but it doesn't matter. Her heart is broken. God save our children.

Carol - truly God spoke to papa's heart this past week. Brittany's prayer card is only one of approximately a hundred cards that have been filled out - and yet our God knows each and every request.

Mama - papa loves you - I am blessed to have you as my #1 prayer partner! I know that your heart is tuned w/God.

Thanks for sharing this precious request from Brittany.

Robin - I am afraid that there are way too many "Brittany's" out there - are heavenly father will have harsh punishment for those who make the children stumble.

Papa, I will keep both those poor kids in my thoughts.

The worse stories I know are about children who grow up feeling they are not loved. Not matter what else a parent does for their child they must let them know how much they are loved.

Ed - the biggest tragedy in a family is not loving your children. The second tragedy is destroying the security that children need to know they are protected. You've got it 100% correct!

Wow- so many struggles out there. I went to a youth rally with my daughter and the speaker asked the youth to call out sins that they or their friends are involved in. It broke my heart to hear the things these children shared. The speaker then showed how each sin was caused by a broken commandment. He went on to say that if we just followed the 10 commandments the best we could, sin would disappear in the world. Then he asked us to imagine a world without sin. His call to students to accept Jesus was amazing - he said, "I won't ask everyone to bow their heads - I want you to look around and see who needs Jesus. If you want to know Jesus, stand up and show yourself. Those of you who are sitting, applaud those who have just entered the Kingdom." Powerful stuff prayer is!

LA - life is a challenge to our kids today - not neccesarily their fault and yet they are faced with various choices. We as adults sometimes make their choices more difficult. That sounds like a great youth rally. If you want to share, how is your daughter doing spiritually?

Robin said...

Life Adapted - Wow! Sounds like an amazing service! Something we could use in all our churches. I think when we hide it makes it harder to come clean - does that make any sense?

Indian Lake Papa said...

Robin - well said - very good words. I don't hide very good.

im sorry but i havent read through all the comments...so i may be repeating something. but i am actually rejoicing right now.

brittany is aware of what she needs prayer for. that is the biggest battle. she wants to know God or she wouldnt be asking for prayer. that gives me hope. i know her seeing her parents would be a huge thing. but her 'knowing' God first will be the best and will be part of the journey that helps her through the separation of her family. God is pressing on this young ones heart. He is pursuing her. He is just THAT good!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Tam - I agree God is pursuing her - I pray that someone who knows this little girl will be a mentor. I may try to locate her - I have her full name. What is good is that she was here at camp so someone is aware of the need. Carol (CDC Version)who is on my blog roll may know her.
if i have any success I will let you know!

Papa, all 3 of my children are born again Christians with a heart for Jesus. Rallies like this set them on fire for Christ. My oldest daughter ministered to a friend that she bought to the rally who stood right up and proudly and boldly accepted Jesus. The car ride home was amazing. . .like the car was full of electricy. All my kids face the daily issues of being a Christian in this world, but my husband and I try to acknowledge the struggels and give themt the tools they need to deal with them. Mostly it's prayer, sometimes it's just doing the next right thing.

Indian Lake Papa said...

LA - isn't it exciting to see your children serving Christ?! I will be praying that mom and dad continue to be the Christian examples that Christ intended them to be. Keep Brittany in your prayers. pray today that I can find her if that is what god wants.

Thank you Papa for praying for me. I have felt it this week. It has been a special week full of God's warmth, and I know your blog friends feel the same about the same blessings you provide them. For example, I love reading Tam's heart about you. I think its safe to say she feels the same as I. That being said, what a fortunate little girl that you were the gentleman to find her prayer request. Could not be a better person praying for her. Sometimes I look around and am so saddened by the carelessness to which so many kids are caused to live in. Breaks my heart. Truly, the Holy Spirit is the only one who can fix these earthy messes - thank you for inviting Him to work in the little girl's life. I will pray the same right now.

Peace,
Roxanne

Praying for Brittany that God will put someone in her path to lead her to know Jesus personally. There are so many many hurting children in the world.

We had our church conventions in June. Makes for long days, but I enjoy going.

Roxx - pray that someone gets to help this girl - I am praying that if I am the one that God will lead me in the right directions. I have several that are concerned that this girl does not get missed.

Janis - your prayers are appreciated.
