Mama knows how to pray!

Each night mama and I pray together. I usually pray first then mama prays. Last night we both prayed for rain as it has been kind of dry here. This is how are prayers for rain went:

Papa: "Lord, we need rain, if it is your will give us rain this evening and tomorrow."

Mama: "Lord we need rain, we need it to make things grow, the farmers need it for the crops, I know you are listening to our prayers. and please, have it rain tonight, here at the camp they are having girls camp and they don't need rain during the day (I prayed for rain tomorrow! Whoops!) as it will hamper the girls from having fun with their day activities. Thank you Jesus for listening to our prayers."

Even as mama was finishing up her prayers the thunder started. Shortly thereafter through the night the rain came down. We got a nice little shower last night. this morning the sun was shining. The girls at girls camp are walking around outside, I can see them through the window right now. It should be a nice day today.

Yep, sure glad I have mama. Even if I get my prayers a little screwed up, mama gets it right. Last night I was a little tired I prayed for my blog roll - a few specifics but mostly kind of a generic prayer. But when mama prayed --- Oh my! she rattled off most of your names, kids names too, I was amazed at how well she knows the blog roll! For example, when she came to Robin, she talked to Jesus very personally about the baby she is carrying!

Maybe this isn't a good spiritual thought, but Papa sure is glad he has Mama backing up his prayers! Deb, you have a good prayer partner - she prays for you and your family by names!

This is Mama

Papa makes me sound better than I am. I do pray for his ministry which is you all. I did think of the little girls and not raining on them while they are out...But I am sure I didn't get you all by name as I really am not good at reading on the computer. But Papa keeps me posted on a lot of prayer needs.

God bless each of you. May you enjoy HIS love today

Mama

We got rain down here in Indiana too - - - and we also needed it badly.

So, mama's prayers worked over a LARGE territory!!!

Keetha - mama's prayers cover a wide area! Fortunately they cover papa too! Glad you got your needed rain!

Prayer can be a strong thing and so glad Mama got it right for the rain. Might send a little down our way. Funny how we all pray differently some out loud, some quite (me), and some long and short but he always manages to hear all of us. Glad the girls are having a good time at camp.

Hi Sharon - I have heard there are 175 girls here for camp! They are such a bunch of energy! I pray that all of them will get to meet Jesus this week.

Praise God for the power of prayer. Don't we serve an amazing God? Not only does He listen but He is always faithful to respond in a way that's best for us. I am thankful for both you and Mama in my life. I love you two.

I have such good memories of church camp. We went to a place on a small lake near Cadillac that was a former CCC camp. I was baptized there in the lake when I was 14.

Praying for God to meet your girls this week.

(P.S. I frequently tell people that baptism doesn't "take" unless you're baptized at church camp, in a lake, by immersion, with the moon shining, with the choir singing on the raft. I know that's bad theology, but it's fun to tease people. It's especially fun to tease the people I know now, who believe in sprinkling and infant baptism - but we won't go there.)

GCH - The power of prayer is indescribable - without the resource of prayer there would be no Christian hope. A funny note - when mama is praying and I am next to her, I sometimes pray for other things quietly as she prays out loud - but I find myself stopping - intrigued by her prayers. :o) Saying to myself; "why didn't I think of that?" I think God gets torn up - with my thoughts when mama prays! lol We love you too!

Char - i grew up in the big town of Buckley, not too far from Cadillac. The camp I went to was run by a couple from Harrietta not to far from Cadillac. camp is special!

Okay, Papa, I did this just for you, but others will benefit.

Hi Deb This is Mama

I am praying for you and your family. Hope all is going well there. God answers little prayers too. Like helping me find things even when I put something in the wrong place.
Have a good day.

I love that he always hears our prayers, and answers too! I have been thinking about how the Holy Spirit lives in us and intercedes for us because we don't know what we need to pray for...that is probably a post in itself..but alot more thinking first. Love you both!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Darla - I don't think that I totally comprehend how much the Holy Spirit works in our lives. I weep at times when I know He really wants total control of my life and then I hold back.

You two precious people will never know just how much it meant to those of us working at Girls' Camp - we had rain but twice at night when they were all in bed, and once during afternoon chapel - and no one missed their 'wilderness' adventure outside! THANKS. Keep praying for these precious girls - many cried at dismissal on Friday because they felt so safe on the campground and did not want to go home to abuse and neglect. They need our prayers as they choose to follow God under awful circumstances.
