Mama's Story!

I thought today I would just tell mama's story - at least some of it! She was born at home, not in a hospital. In the picture, she is the girl with her arms crossed. Her family lived in central lower Michigan. Her mother was mostly a homemaker as the children grew. Mama spent most of her life on a small farm with a few farm animals including a work horse and a couple of cows. Her dad worked for "Chevy Assembly" in Flint, MI and was also a part-time farmer. Her dad was not a Christian until mama was an older child. They attended a Nazarene church in Perry, MI until I married mama there - and took her away.

Mama attended a one-room country school until she went into high school and that change was very traumatic for mama. She was a quiet girl and the high school was a very large school. Now she was riding a bus to school instead of walking through the country fields and along the country roads. She did have a close friend named Patsy.

After high school mama went to a Christian college - Owosso College for about two years. Shortly thereafter she started working on her MRS degree - I was the lucky choice! We were married in 1965 and have been in love more every day!

The best part of this post? Mama just read it, giggled and gave me a kiss! heh heh!

Awwww...you love birds...what can I say? I can relate with Mama on the one-room country school shutting down and being moved into public school in town. Felt like such a country bumpkin, and never really did fit in. It's neat that you know Mama's story so well. It's obvious you really love that woman!

Papa has been great for me. I have to say that he helped me to develop self confidence. I remember one day when I was walking down the sidewalk in Wisconsin after we had moved there feeling like a no body and all of a sudden I though I am somebody! I am Papa's wife and I had such a peace in my heart. Of course Jesus in my heart comes first.

Love the picture - Mama was adorabale as a small child and still is :)

Great story!

Mama - love your comment!

You two should do pre-marital counseling for young folks thinking about getting married or even marital counseling for those having troubles in their marriage. You two are incredible!

Oh...I'm having blogger troubles...I added a new template to my Scripture/Memorize this blog and lost a good bit of ability to change and add things and to search my blog - guess it will teach me for trying to make it look pretty....

Robin - Thanks for the vote of confidence - we have a lot of fun together and we are both trying to be better communicators w/each other.

Char - if you had just been a couple of years older at Brethern Camp !!! :o) !!! lol I have to pay those people that know me to say nice things!

Okay, I'll concede to "character" without any embellishments, but you and Mama are obviously well liked for a reason ;^).

Char - Character is critical - and so easy to lose. I pray as mama and I go through life that we maintain character. If not, we will be a stumbling block - I do not want that.
