Meet my daughter - Jo! this is a special picture of my daughter w/my first grandchild taken in 1999. A special day. Just got off the plane from Russia.
I have others, mostly on my blog, that I refer to as my daughter, but that is only in the sense of trying to be a fatherly image - mostly because of my age. JO is my ONLY daughter and I love her very much.
I am guilty of taking that relationship for granted. She knows her daddy loves her, but I do not express that like I should. I am sorry Jo and will try my best not to let that happen from now on. I want my life pattern with both of my children to not be a father who has taken his own children for granted. They are the best and I love them - I just need to show that more. Please forgive me. I love you,
Your DAD

I love you too. Thank you for the post, it was very nice. I know we all get busy with the many things that are going on in our lives. Hard to believe that picture is 9 years old. Feels like just the other day. Bake looks about the same hah! I was just thanking God for him and for sending me around the world to get him. I also said a special prayer for you this morning. Must be we had each other on our hearts today. Love ya.
Jo
This is Mama!
How I remember that day!! I was one excited Grandma!! I thank God for how He has put our family together and also for our Christian family.
Family is important and How I love this daughter, her husband and both of their children. We have a granddaughter too and soon to have another granddaughter from China.
We also have a son we love.

You are very special to your dad. Do not ever doubt that - I probably don't show or say that enough to you - but others know. I brag about my wonderful family to many. Love you Jo.
Papa - - - I'm interrupting this sweet post and comments with something as mundane as football.
I was PROUD of your Spartans Saturday!!!!! They ROCKED. Javon Ringer - - - - he's the real deal!!!!
Yep - - - we gotta meet, my Badgers and your Spartans, on the bettle field in E. Lansing on Saturday.
I would LOVE for my Badgers to come away victors - - - but with the way we've been playing, and with Beckham injured, I'm not at all sure we will win.
But then, that's why they play the game - - - - to see what will happen!!!
Hi Keetha - you are too old to be one of my daughters - ha! you are my much younger sister! Jo is very special to me - I am proud she is my daughter. She is a terrific mom of two wonderful children and a great RN !! I have to admit my loyalties this coming Saturday are w/the Spartans.
Papa,
This was such a sweet post. And your daughter's response likewise as sweet. I like how you model real love. You have a special way of letting us all know no one is perfect but at the end of the day God is love, and family is a gift by which we can express that love. You and mama and Jo's sentiments were touching. Bless you all real good.
xoxox,
R
How sweet! I'm sure your daughter is as terrific as you and Mama. You are a wonderful husband, father and mentor to many!
Thank You!
It is always great to read about all the love in your family.
Love is the only improtant thing in a family. Your family,Papa and Mama has that in abundance.
jo - i cant think of a luckier daughter than you. you are so very blessed. and im sure you know that quite well. what an amazing family you have. thank you for sharing them with us here in blog land. we love them very, very much.
Awwww! Such a sweet photo!
Jo, isn't it amazing how Dads tend to mellow as the *ahem* kids get older??!!
Just found your blog, and I have to say.. I love it.
How would you feel about writing down your "story" much like Tam did?
We would love to hear it. If your interested you could mail me or mystory@caffeinatedfaith.com
Thank you so much for this blog. God is good indeed!
Roxx - I love my daughter - she knows that because I tell her. But I do need to show that more.
Ed - family is so very critical - nothing rips at papa's & mama's heart more than knowing a family member is having some form of difficulty.
Robin -did you mean mentor or tormentor? lol
TAM - praying for you - I just read both parts of your story for the first time. Thanks for sharing.
Crossview - I think I am mellowing - at least a little in my old age!
Andy - thanks for the offer but I will have to wait and see if I have anything to share. Thanks for stopping by.
Be in prayer for my friend Lynetta who is having her twins today - I posted about it at my blog and will post updates there too. She is having twin boys - due on Dec. 6th.
Papa - in answer to your question...
Robin -did you mean mentor or tormentor? lol
Probably both :) You are gifted what can I say :)
Robin - you can be sure mama and I are praying for you and your friend. I will be sure to focus on mentoring.
Okay...we have something else in common. I have one daughter named Jo. I think it was so sweet you told her how much you love her. It must be getting cold in Michigan. Take care. Counting down until December.
Hi Nana - I love my daughter very much - she is the best. See you in not too long. Todays high is 43 - brrr! Should warm up the next couple of days.
Love you Papa!! Your daughter is oh so very lucky!! I talk to Jake often about not knowing what it feels like to have a dad that was loving and caring so I can't imagine how the boys feel about him. I can't imagine how anyone with a good dad feels, so father figures are always soft spots for me. You are a wonderful example!!
Love you and Mama!
What a beautiful post. I am sure Jo knows how much you love her, but us daughters sure never get tired of hearing it.
Brandy - Sometimes I feel inadequate as a father - I love my children - but I need to make sure they know that.
Heather - I am sure she likes to know her daddy loves her too! I try!
Papa you know I was mostly joking about the tormenting :) You truly are a great mentor.
Thanks for your prayers for Lynetta and the boys (James and John). I will update more probably tomorrow about how they are doing.
Thanks for your ongoing prayers for me and my little treasure too.
So nice of you to praise your daughter. We "older" kids still like to know we're appreciated!
Hi Papa! You have a wonderful daughter...
...and oh, the baby's sooooo cute!
Char - I need to tell my kids often that I love them - and show them!
Brainteaser - That baby is now 9 years of age! He came from Russia!
Hey Papa
What a wonderful tribute to your daughter; she is indeed blessed to have a father like you. Thank you Jo for alowing your Dad to share some of his fatherly love with his spiritual daughters and sons. Thank you Papa for being a Dad-like figure in my life. I love you and Mama.
Gch - I want my daughter to know that her dad loves her very much. We have shared much together and have learned much from each other. It was with that in mind that I became Indian Lake Papa - & mama. We love our children - all of you and especially Jo & Jeff, our very own.
