Manatee's - near mama & papa

No this is not a picture of papa swimming in a spring - it is a Manatee. Our Florida home is only 25 minutes from the Manatee's. Usually when we have visitors we like to take them to see the manatee's. You can even sign up for tours to swim with them - we are hoping to do that soon. We are meeting up with Roxanne & Beth in a few days to do that. Afterwards we plan to come to papa's & mama's place for burgers.

NOw let's have some fun - let's name the Manatee in the picture using just the letters "M A N A T E E" - like "Man" (too bad we don't have a 'D' ) or "Tan".

ROFL!

"Manatees (family Trichechidae, genus Trichechus) are large, fully aquatic marine mammals sometimes known as sea cows."

Crossview - humph ! sea cows ?? lol Does that make them all female? Cows are female cattle - right???

"Manatees are aquatic mammals that are called sea cows (named this by Georg Wilhelm Steller, because they taste like beef)."

When I eat a burger, I have no idea if it's a boy or a girl - but it better be cow! =P

I didn't mean to sidetrack your comments. I thought everybody knew what a "sea cow" is. My mom is from Florida and I spent many years there growing up. Maybe everybody else didn't??!! =P

Crossview - I enjoy your comments on this post - you always do well - and thats no bull! I also heard that the manatee had something to do with the legend of mermaids. Thats a little scary - must have been a very drunken sailor! LOL
