Children Are Special!

This is the most special girl in the world - she is papa's daughter - and she is the world's best RN ! I asked her yesterday for a picture of her in her grubs - work clothes. So here she is - say hi to Jo !

Very late in her senior year of high school she said, half-heartedly; "I think I will go to school to be a nurse!" Papa choked ! I kinda encouraged her, but in my heart, said; "ain't no way!" Well - she did it !! She got her RN in 1994 - against all odds - her life right up to almost graduation was in major turmoil. I will not share - but as a father during the years 1990 - 1993 papa spent many sleepless nights, many in tears - praying for my precious daughter. She has a wonderful Christian testimony of God's miraculous intervention in her life. She is a story of; "Never give up, you can win!"

Today? Well if you haven't seen her families blog, My Family, stop by.

Jo is an RN at a major university hospital in Michigan. Several of papa's friends have had medical treatment there. When asked, Jo will go find them and stop in to say hi for papa. Thanks Jo, I love you !

This is Mama
Isn't she sweet!! I was so excited when I first saw our little girl. After all of the foster boys plus a son of our own, it was wonderful to have a girl!! :)
I am very proud of our daughter, our son, son in law and grandchildren. God is good.
Count your blessings and love your children. Mama

Some days I am sure that there is no way I can be a nurse and what was I thinking. :) Not always easy but I know I am where I am suppose to be.

Love you too!

Dearest Jo - thanks stopping by! Your daddy loves you - and prays for you each day - morning, noon and night. God knew you'd make a great nurse - he put that in your heart and mind. ME, if I'd picked your career when you were 17, probably a race car driver - or pro soccer player! ha! Oh how mama and I love you!

Hey, Papa, you have a gorgeous daughter!! I've never met her in person, but she sounds as lovely as she looks! You and Mama have every reason to be proud! I'll go check out her web-site and see what the latest is about the adoption.

Papa, You have a beautiful family. It is great to see Jo shares your love of children.

From her blog I can see she is carrying forward this legacy to her own family.

Ed - she's a keeper - yep, a real keeper! Don't tell anyone, but she was a nasty soccer player in school - they nick-named her "Animal"! Must have been mama's genes.

Papa,

Thank you for your kind comments. I am happy I missed the "white stuff" while we were in FL, but am not happy to be back in the icky whether. My tan is sticking out like a sore thumb amongst my pale Pacific Northwest friends!

So grateful to have had the time with you - for as much trouble as we spent on the trip, our experience with you made it the reason and bright spot of the trip! YOU ARE FAMILY AND WE LOVE YOU. My heart 'bout melted when we had to leave as well. I pray you and Mama start saving your pennies for a trip to Elizabeth and I someday. In the meantime, thank God we have Him and the He gave us blogging which connected all of us. I am so grateful for that.

I MISS YOU AND MAMA REALLY BAD!

I love you!!!

You know what? I was looking at your posts from last year and your links. Our paths may have crossed many times already. I may even have met you in the past. I remember going to a Nazarene summer camp as a teenager (maybe Indian Lake). I have worked for customers in Vicksburg, Portage, Battle Creek, etc. We are campers.
Is Jo’s husband related to any one from Allegan, MI?
I’m sure that you and I are related. We both have relatives from Scandinavia.
I discovered a long time ago that it is a small world.
When will you be done with that book you are working on?

Indian Lake Papa said...

Roxx - miss you - it was a wonderful time we had with your family! Papa has just come down with a sore throat, cold, - probably the flu - yuk!

Crossview - are you expecting ("it's time") or some thing?

Tech Nana - Papa is blessed to have JO - she has given us 3 grand kids!:o)

Peter - we need to talk someday - we live on the Nazarene campground at Indian Lake. I would love to discuss our family roots - I have done a few hours (smile) of research. My book - hope to complete the draft in March - then a search for a publisher. Its a different twist - about horses!

Yes, I'm expecting...
I'm expecting an update here.
Are you napping? =P

Hi Papa,

I think it's "scrubs" not "grubs". In the medical profession people frequently have to "scrub up" as in sanitize their hands before handling things or going into surgery. So the special outfit one wears is called scrubs and is designed to keep street bacteria out of the medical treatment area.

You probably already knew that!

Jeans and a flannel shirt - now that's "grubs" in my book - and very comfortable, too!

Robin - I am very proud of my daughter! She is a wonderful Christian young lady!
