Papa has a green thumb!!

Ed from CT has done a post about "green thumb". I thought I would show you what a green thumb can really do! The top picture is our row of beautiful cedar bushes - probably about 12' tall. I decided that they were getting too over powering and needed trimming back. So I trimmed them a little - lower picture.

What do you think? Good job eh? If you ever need any bushes trimmed just call PAPA'S TRIMMING SERVICE -1 (800)-HACKER.

MY neighbors just love the new look! Yeah, right!

This is Mama
One thing about it they have to get better. Sometimes in life we feel like the bottom picture. But with God we will look forward to improvement. Next winter we will have to give you an update. :)
We have hope in God. Have a good day and look forward to what God will do in your life if you allow Him
Love and prayers MAMA

k asked if you work for the electric company. =P

Indian Lake Papa said...

Crossview - HA! TEll K - I am putting my hacking skills on my resume for the electric company! LOL That's funny. The neighbor boy - about 8, said, "papa destroyed those trees!" They will look nice - in 6 months!

The picture on top looks good, what happened to the trees in the bottom picture? Oh well, at least they will come back more healthy.

Mama,
Thank you for the sweet comment in this post.

Papa,
Please tell me you were not the family hair stylist. I have to confess, I have been known to buzz cut a branch or too. :0) He, he.

Hi Janis - I noticed the other day that you and your hub could use a little hair trim - my hackers could do that for sure - in just seconds! HE HE !

You should not be allowed to play with scissors....or shears....whichever the case may be. NO SHARP OBJECTS FOR PAPA!

Beautiful analogy Mama;)

Love and Hugs!

Uh........what an arborist! I did mine that way......one time. Good luck!

Papa, you did get a tad over enthusiastic with the trimming. I can imagine what your neighbor thought when he first saw your handy work. Probably not too Christian. :)

I will give you an A for effort. Not so much with the result. :)

Is there anything in the Bible about how to trim hedges?

Thanks for the link to my blog.

Indian Lake Papa said...

Heather - stop by, I think I can give trims quite well - maybe even a perm - eh?

Edwina - just call "Have chainsaw will travel."

Strider - I am confident it will improve! Can't be worse! LOL

Ed - my neighbor is a Baptist Preacher!! We have laughed about the hack job - his wife's exact words were: "I hate it!" It will take awhile for the new growth to
really show.

CrossView said...

Are you sure it will grow back? 'Cause I'm thinking of calling the tree-huggers on you!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Crossview - It has lots of buds on each bush. The buds were there before I "trimmed" them back - but the sunlight couldn't get to the new growth on the inside. I am very optimistic they will do well - just have to get through the tough period.

So you've never tried it before?
Six months, you say?

Roxx - mama and I sure love you - and that precious Julia as well! We count you as family! Have any bushes that need trimming?

I agree with Mama, sometimes we have to get pruned away to bring better things. The Lord is watching over us and He knows when we need things cut back or chopped off. Some things we think we just can't live without, but He knows exactly what will make us better. He is always watching over us.

that is one sad looking trim job, papa.

i know you did it on purpose, but i think i almost shed a tear.

we had a guy come to our door yesterday and offer to trim our hedge to the side of our house...for $75.00!!!

um. no thanks!

Indian Lake Papa said...

TAm - you should have had me trim your hedges while I was out there! I am sure Brent could have got a chainsaw - minutes, just minutes and it would be over.

JoEllen said...

And I yell at Matt when he cuts off a few branches..... :) Your poor bushes are probably feeling very embarrassed with their state of undress. How long did that take you?

Indian Lake Papa said...

Jo - It took about an hour - I hired a guy with a big chain saw - he even hauled all off! lol

Love you!

Oh my...

Do you want to come trim my shrubs? They are a bit out of control too and could use a time out - haha

I'm enjoying my little one two month old yesterday - time is flying...

Indian Lake Papa said...

Robin - do you have a chainsaw I can use or do I need to bring my own "Stihl 041 Farm Boss"? The pictures are adorable you sent of the little one!

Devoted said...

A good pruning is always good for the soul...and never really looks that pretty when it is happening. God bless you both. I have missed you while I've been away the past couple of weeks!

Indian Lake Papa said...

Devoted - glad your back! Missed you! Yep, God has had to hack on quite a bit!

Robin said...

Papa - thanks - I'm addicted to the little one too. I'm so in love... When are you coming for a visit... and yes you will have to bring your own chain saw - haha :)

As you can tell - I'm not quite back to blogging - very busy with my new treasure.
