Amaryllis

How is your winter going? Mama and I are doing fine. We are into the flower season here in Florida. The Amaryllis' are starting to bloom - Spring is on its way.

We leave for Michigan a week from today. Brrrr. No flowers up there for a few more weeks. Mama's roses will be just starting to show some new growth. Flowers just always seem to be an encourager for life.

In a few more weeks our favorite fragrant flower will be in bloom. The beautiful Lilac. Mama has several varieties of Lilacs.

I agree, winter can be harsh, but Spring is almost here. You remember that! Have a great day.

Papa,

I just read an article in Better Homes and Gardens that there is a new year round lilac bush. Have you heard of this?

I love that you love gardening, both seeds and souls.

THAT would be very unusual to have a year-round lilac! Wow - will have to check that out!

I don't see how you can leave so early. Wait till the first of May so you can see all the beautiful flowers everywhere! ;o)

Papa, my favorite flower is the Lily of the Valley, which I know was named after my mother. :)

I am not a very good gardner. I haven't meet the plant I couldn't kill. :)

Maybe there will be a heat wave back in Michigan. I kinda doubt it. I think it's in the 30's today.

I hope you didn't put your heavy coat in moth balls when you left Michigan. You may need it.

ED- mama even has her winter boots here - she will keep them close!

Mama's mother has Lily of the Valley along the north side of her house - very fragrant.

We drove through the Piney Woods of East Texas today and saw the blooming dogwoods. WOW. Among the deep green of the pines and the new Spring growth of the oaks, the dogwoods appeared as flocks of white butterflies. AMAZING.

I love Spring!

In our first home I had Amaryllis...red...gorgeous!!

Hiya there, Papa! How are you and Mama?

We have only two seasons: dry and wet. :-(

But I've always thinking of spring. In my mind it means hope, like Mama's flowers bloom.

Enjoy the spring, Papa.

How I wish we have it too. :-)
