Ouch! That hurt!

A couple of days ago I took my first fall off from Amos. Fortunately, neither of us were hurt.

We were in the outside arena going through some exercises prior to going on a trail ride. We started to have a difference of opinion as to which way we were to go. Suddenly Amos stumbled, lost his footing, went to his knees and then went completely down. I rode him completely to the ground, it happened very fast. I was able to get my feet out of the stirrups and was trying to quickly get off when he decided to get up! Not good - I went rolling on the ground! I strained some old muscles (they are all old!) and hurt for a few days.

Have you ever depended upon Christ to lead you, have Him stumble and throw you into a heap? No? I didn't think so. We can always depend on Him not to stumble. We can go with him, confident He will lead and not fail.

I ride Amos with confidence and determination that he will get me to our destination. But he could fail and in his weakness stumble. Yet, I trust Amos and I am willing to trust in his strength and power. And yet, Christ sometimes has to challenge me to trust Him - how foolish can I be?

Glad you're ok!

It is funny how we often put our trust in the wrong things/people/places when there is only One who is totaly trustworthy!

I am glad to hear both you and Amos were not too badly hurt. I have learned, as you have, that old muscles don't heal very quickly.

Actually every part of my body doesn't work as quickly as it use to, especially my brain. :)

Crossview - it was not fun - actually it was kind of an ugly dismount where I went sprawling! I am thankful God never stumbles!

Ed - I was very concerned about Amos! Stumbling by a horse can be very serious - however, in this case I believe it was several things. First, it was the first time ridden in sometime, soft ground, and we were "arguing" about which way to turn. Since then I have ridden him and he has not stumbled. You also worry about arthritis or joint stiffness. But he does not limp and he will run to me from the field so I think he is okay. Me, i am like you - getting stiff with age and joints don't work as well! LOL

Debs - I am so glad that Christ is there when we stumble! If He wasn't, this old man would be in big trouble. His faithfulness always can be counted on.

Papa, I am so sorry that you and Amos got your wires crossed!!! I'm sure though you did not injure yourself badly that you have some aches and pains from the fall!!
Like you I am so thankful that my Jesus won't let me fall!!

Sharon - I did stretch some muscles a little more than they were used to! But then God does stretch me sometimes more than I would rather stretch.

I'm glad you weren't hurt too badly. I understand having old bones--me too.

I checked on the Lilac Bloomerang for you. White Flower is taking pre-orders for the Fall. Tim Wood the breeder---said they may do an early release and all the PW nurseries may have them Fall 2009. They have had an overwhelming response to purchase. It's growing faster and better than they had imagined. Since it is doing so well, more of the stock is ready for retail sooner than later.

I'll let you know if I fiind out differently.

Papa, it's when I'm not depending on God that I stumble!! Great point. So, why do we have trouble trusting? Or is it that we don't recognize His voice? Either way, we should always be in His will and in His care.

Happy Easter and be ever so blessed.
