You Have No Choice!!

The title of this post is contrary to the title of my blog - kind of. I have made the theme of my blog "Choices R Mine", which implies that you always have a choice. Well, I am wrong. There are somethings that we have to do without any choice. One of which I want to talk about - serving Christ. If you profess to be a Christian, you MUST serve, it is not an option you choose, it is not a choice - you serve. Somehow, somewhere.

If you choose not to serve, you do not answer to me, but you will answer to God. So, get with it.

Mama and I started working in the nursery here 15 years ago. We are still doing that. WE do it each Sunday now - early. We arrive each Sunday AM before choir practice so that Choir members can drop off small children and then be able to attend choir practice. We serve so that others can serve - now that is cool!

Some of the kids we have had in the nursery here are now having high school graduation open house's! Mama, do I really look that old? Our son is now in his 40's! And yet I still have to serve! Oh my! "even so Lord, return quickly."

Too cute - all of you!

You can read?
Is that a camo apron you have on?

Crossview - I LOVE you! LOL Yes, I can read, well make up some of the story line while I look at the pictures. My apron was hand made out of camo material that i got from a fabric store. I still wear it each Sunday. It even has a deer picture on the shoulder! I refused to wear the blue apron so had my own made!ha!

Looks like you two are having fun.
That doesn't look like service work at all! Ha! Ha!
Keep up the great ministry.

I believe that nursery may one day be my calling but I want a pink apron.

Papa and Mama also serve Christ through their volunteer work at Indian Lake Nazarene Camp. Papa mows a large territory every week. Mama works with camp registration and fills the role of Grandma to our young girls during Girls' Camp. Many other ways they serve...too numerous to mention. I am sure God smiles on them as they live their lives for Him.

Parsley - You wear the pink one and I will wear the camo! We may even trade once in awhile!

Even when our bodies fail us we can still serve in some way. Praying is serving or encouraging others with a phone call or sending a note in the mail but you are right, we must serve in our special way!

Michele - service is simply obedience to whatever God asks - It helps if you are listening for instruction though. Have a great day!!

What a precious family photo!

I saw your comment on alcohol at Parselys. I have a friend who makes jelly. They don't drink. Someone gave them a bottle of wine for their anniversary. She made "wine jelly" with it. Now she buys out the wine at the liquor store but the jelly is delicious and I had some with my morning toast recently. It is a popular variety along with "Cactus" jelly my other favorite.

I like the blog over here. You have a delightful family you are blessed. Anne

Hi Ann! Thanks for stopping by! I have a best friend who happens to be my wife. We kid each other a lot but we never put the other one down - she is a very special lady. We both have dealt with some physical challenges but we still serve our Savior.

Hi Papa! I'm out visiting today-- good to see you!

I have to say on a principled basis that I agree with your blog theme, and therefore must respectfully disagree with the post. :D However I do agree that it's a darn good idea.
Blessings!

Annie - LOL! I wondered if anyone would see the "conflict"! LOL I agree that we disagree - but we both agree! ha!

I found you from Parsley's blog. I wish there were more like you.

We struggled with being in choir because the children's workers were rarely on time. Ah, that was a lifetime ago, it seems. We are now in a different state, a different church.

And now of all things we have been asked to lead the youth Bible study. What a shock to the system when we do not yet have youth ages children. Oh the youth!! What an interesting bag of marbles they are. ;) But we do feel peace with this, even though it is outside of our comfort zone.

Kim - you have been asked to perform in leadership roles because somebody has confidence in you. Trust God and work at it - He expects you to give your best. DO NOT let Satan trip you up!
