Courage!

The picture above looks fairly normal. These are two of my three grand children - looking at something in anticipation. They are curious, looking up, and yet seem relaxed. Notice that they are also wearing some kind of harness.

In just a few minutes they will climb a 40' staircase up a tower, hook up to a zipline and step off - for the first time. How did they get the courage to do that??!! First, many family members encouraged them. Then, they prepared, they put on harnesses. When you face tough times you usually get lots of encouragement - but do you prepare? There is no way they would go up that tower without a harness!

We prepare for tough times by reading God's Word, Prayer, counsel with others - getting spiritually fit and prepared.

By the way, they both went down the zipline!! Cool!!

A good post! Thanks for the reminder of how to prepare for life's struggles.

I think I will safely stay on the ground. I'll leave the height climbing to others. ;)

Kim - glad you came by! We have to prepare to use courage - to try courage without preparing is recklessness!

Ziplines look like fun but I will pass! LOL! I pray my courage never fails when God asks me to do something out of my comfort zone. May I always be prepared and relaxed and eager for it!

Michelle - the important thing is to always do your best to be prepared. Listen to the encouragers, not the discouragers!

I love the zipline!! The hardest part is stepping off the platform. I stood on the platform for a few minutes while people below shouted encouragements to me. It's a leap of faith for sure. Great post and great analogy. God and prayer are our best harness.

Be blessed.

And we need to be (spiritually) prepared for what is soon to come.

LA - mama stepped off that thing like nothin - she was prepared! Me, I hesitated, but finally did it - wasn't going to let mama show me up!

Thandi - we need to be always prepared for what God has in store for us.

There must be a special yell, like "Geronimo!", before you jump, right?

Your grandchildren look a lot more relaxed then I would be facing a forty foot climb up a tower.

When sliding down the zipline I doubt if "cool" is a word I would be thinking of, if I could think over my screaming. :)

The encouragement and support of those we trust, and have faith in, is needed to help prepare us for whatever trials we will face in life.
