A Child Prayer

Have you listened to children pray much? If you listen between the lines it is mostly about security. They want to be safe and loved. They grow physically and emotionally on love and safety.

We as adults need to nourish that and protect that. Mama and I have 2 children, a son almost 41 and a daughter 39. They still want love and safety from mom & dad.

Some of you are single parents - we pray for you even more, you have double duty.

Today we will not physically be with our kids. We may SKYPE (Video chat) with our son. When we hang up we will say, "We love you son! See ya soon." I think that is the way Jesus feels when we "SKYPE" with Him. I wish Jesus would setup a Facebook page!

I'm 40 and you are more technology literate than me. I don't have facebook or SKYPE.

Parsley - LOL! I spend hours on facebook - I really like it as a communication tool. SKYPE (Video chatting) is very special. We do that with many family and friends.

And it's the same thing I want from Jesus! One of my biggest hurdles to overcome was admitting that He loved my children even more than I do!

Beautiful picture Papa. We all need to believe we are loved, and safe.

Faith is so important because it will make us feel loved, and as safe as possible in this world, no matter what the circumstances of our life are.

I did not look forward to saying my bedtime prayers, because of the part "if I should die before I wake". Scared the bejesus out of me. LOL I sometimes keep my eyes open, and the light on all night.

Crossview - oh so very true! We cannot comprehend His love for us - very good point.

Ed - Still keeping the light on? I do too!! But i do shut my eyes! LOL

LOL... I bet people would pay closer attention to their status messages if Jesus was listed among their facebook friends!

I was reminded of a time when Jimmy and I were Childrens Church ministers. One little boy in our class always volunteered to say the opening prayer. One Sunday morning he ended his prayer with; "And Lord, please don't let my daddy shot my dog anymore."

Needless to say "Brother" Jimmy did some investigating. The shooting was a beebe gun pumped once cause the neighbors complained about the barking.

One more...Jake occasionally said, "Thank you Lord for big blue tractors."

Ah the beauty, innocence, and faith in the prayer of a child!

Devoted - children's prayers are so filled with honesty and faith. If only we as adults would do so well.
