I dreaded Saturday!

I had been dreading yesterday, Saturday, all summer long. The last Saturday of September is the day papa has to clean up his "toys" and put them away for the winter - Precious 1 (Malibu Ski boat) and Precious 2 (pontoon). All week I was focused on Saturday and was not looking forward to it. It is a lot of work and not much fun - plus it means the end of the boating season. I was happy that most of the work is done by other family members who came to help - Thank you all of you that helped - still I wish the day would never come - almost.

How is your next week looking? Any days that you are dreading because you know whats ahead? Well don't - don't do like I did, you have a greater possibility of missing God's blessing if you are not looking for his blessing. I missed one and didn't even know it - until it was too late. I was going to go with my daughter to pick up pizza and missed that one-on-one 30 minute father/daughter time. I was "too busy" barking orders and worried about time constraints. That evening it hit me - "I blew it!'

But God had another blessing for me and this one I did not miss! Darla had a part in this as well.

At 5PM - after a long day and trying to get the last boat wrapped up, my niece informed me that someone was stopping by to see me. She had heard the discussion a few minutes earlier at another house here on the campgrounds. She did not know who they were but thought I should know. Shortly a car drove up and a man got out who I did not recognize, then a 9 year old girl got out! Tears began to flow - it was Brittany! You will have to go back to papa's older posts (July 21, 2008) to find her story - but papa has been praying for this girl all summer. I had plans to find this girl and give her a Bible. she is living w/grandparents because of "unfortunate" parental issues. I finally met her grandparents - very nice people.

When Darla and her family came on Labor Day they brought a brand new children's Bible with them for Brittany! I had hoped she would be here yet this summer season - but I gave up. I gave the Bible to Brittany's pastor who was here on the camp last Thursday. Today, Sunday, she should have that Bible in her hands! Thank you Jesus! I explained to Brittany that her pastor has the Bible.

That dreaded day you are concerned about? God has some blessings for you that day. Make sure that as you get up that day that you have surrendered that day to him - ask him to help you not to miss the blessings of the day!

I'm sorry it was time to clean up your toys, but sooner or later we all have to clean up and put things away. :) LOVE YOU!!

I am thrilled that Brittany has her Bible today... of all my possessions...I love my Bible...all the answers are in there, and I am always needing an answer. ;-)

I am so happy that you got to see her again this summer!! what an answer to prayer for me! oh yea and you! and Mama...alot of people praying for that little princess!

Papa, you know we all miss it sometimes, and I could beat my self up over it, or I could be glad that GOd wakes me up in time to not miss everything... LOL I love you, and hopefully you will get another chance real soon to spend 30 minutes with you princess..I will pray for that! I love that the LORD gives me do-overs...and I love YOU!

Hi Darla - we get so busy - wrapped up with life that it is so very easy to miss those special blessings! We just try to do better - and you are right - don't beat yourself up over it!

How sweet Darla to get a Bible for Brittany! You are doing God's work!

Papa, I met someone you know today, but guess what - I FORGOT their names already. They were stopping through on their way to their home in Waldorf.

They lived or visited at Indian Head some maybe five years ago... oh how I wish my pregnant brain could remember their names. The man sat directly behind me and had a very nice voice. They were visiting Indian something in Ohio and I immediately thought of you and Indian Lake and they know you and Judy and even talked of your winter home in Florida... I will have to check with my Pastor to see if he remembers their names... It's always neat to meet people who know people...

When I said this...

"They lived or visited at Indian Head some maybe five years ago"

I meant Indian Lake Michigan (pregnant brain - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it).

Maybe it was Indian Head Ohio or possibly some other state - haha

I am so glad you got to see Brittany and that you got her a new bible. God used you to help change her life. I will remember to continue praying for Brittany. This was such a good post reminding me that when I dread things I should also remember that He is watching over me and can bring me the most wonderful surprises and I don't need to be anxious about anything. Great job papa!

Robin - would be very anxious to know who you met that knows us! It is a small world! I will pray for your pregnant brain! ha! Keep Brittany in your prayers - I told her mama and I will pay for her camp fee next summer if she wants to come to girls camp.

Nana - Saturday almost was one of those days I was so busy I forgot that God may have plans for me that I did not think about.

I agree that you can miss blessings if you're not looking for them. I've found that a grateful heart keeps me more attuned to what God is sending my way.

I think there's a law against dreading Saturdays! =P

Mondays are allowed to be dreaded.

I'm glad Brittany has nice grandparents! =D

Tam -can you wait until I get there? Mama and I will chaperone and double date with them - when do you want us home by? 2AM okay ??

Char - I am working more on listening for my Savior's voice and watching as well. I just want him to be able to use me!

Crossview - it really was a good day - a good day with family - just very busy. I wish the Marine's had landed - I would have put them to work!

I needed this encouragement today. Some days I just don't expect anything good from God. I know that's terrible because I'm limiting Him to what "good" means to me.

His thoughts are so far above mine. I choose to trust Him.

Thanks, Papa.

Michelle - I will pray for you today - in fact I already have. Michelle - if I could I would give you a hug, Jesus is right there - just talk to him. Then listen!

I am sorry to hear that you had to put your "toys" away.

Soon(?) I guess you may be flying (driving?) south with the rest of the "snow birds". :)

I am happy to read that Brittany is now in a more loving home. It is so important for children to know they are loved.

Ed - We head south the 30th of November. Toys are almost ready to be put in storage. Ed - if you ever get to Michigan in the summer, we would be tickled to have you stay with us. Mama would love to teach you to play Farkel - Don't let this church camp scare you - lol - we have a blast here! Maybe you will make that Florida trip - that winter escape drive and come and see us! We pray that Brittany will be okay - God sure put things together at the right times.

Aww that is awesome you got to see her. I agree sometimes the days we dread are those we should especially look for the blessings! You and I think a lot alike Papa!

Papa,
Thanks for your words of inspiration and encouragement! I love that God teaches us lessons in the everyday things!

Kim - it was a great day - God just seemed to be around every corner w / a blessing - even if I wasn't looking. I missed a couple but found a whole bunch! Finally I caught on!

Sunny - I am learning that the "everyday things" are where we see God the most - just have to be intent on looking.

Juri - thanks for stopping by! It is so easy to get caught up in the "dreary" days! God so loves us!

Thank you, Papa! Your prayers are so appreciated. He is good in giving us the blessings of people far away, praying...wow.

Michelle - prayer is so very important. One of the traits of prayer I like is that it is hard to be angry at someone you are praying for.

Scott - today I took precious 1 to her "resting place" for the winter - boo hoo! I won't see her until May now! A dreaded day today! lol

Papa, would you and mama please pray for me? I have to have an echocardiogram Wed morn. My EKG was abnormal and they want to see why my heart is enlarged. Please pray it will not be serious. I've been off the chemo for two weeks now and they think it was one of the side effects. I was taking chemo for my arthritis. I felt I needed to be off it and now this verifies it for me. The Lord is so good and I trust Him totally!

Hubby avoids this day by simply NOT putting his boat away for the winter. If there's a warm day - - - boat comes out of the garage and he and fishing buddy Mark head off into the wild blue yonder.

Indian Lake Papa said...

Keetha - I wish I could avoid it - with the outboard on the pontoon I could, but w/the inboard, water cooled system, I can't it would freeze. Dreaded cold weather! ha! But soon FL bound!

Nana - papa will be praying for you! As soon as mama wakes up I will tell her also. Papa has already beeb praying.

Good morning again Roxx! It is a cool day here! It is in the low 50's. Just got back from riding my bike - brrr! I dread winter snow anymore - but I enjoy the Florida sunshine.
