This is a Scotts Tractor Mower! Excellent mower! This mower belongs to our neighbor lady. She is a widow and papa mows her lawn for her. The mower is a 16hp/42" deck - powerful and a good cut. Mows very even - the best I have seen - very comfortable and great quality. I believe it is about 10 years old, I have been using it to mow her lawn 4 or 5 years. It has mowed several neighbors yards when their mowers have been on the fritz - mostly John Deere's. I have also mowed other neighbor yards using at least 4 other tractors - mostly John Deere's and they can't hold a candle to this mower. I didn't even know Scotts had a tractor mower until I saw this one. I was very skeptical about this one until I climbed on and got to use it and see its performance - I was sold very quickly!
We sometimes as Christians think we are the "best". That our denomination is really the one that "out performs" the other. We forget or do not recognize that we are all redeemed by God's Grace. We all started as new babe's in Christ and hopefully have grown in our walk as we have progressed on our spiritual journey. We need to be cautious as we judge others on the same walk - they are more similar than we think. The mower above? Yep, I am judging and being very opinionated. However, if you ever get to see a Scotts mower like the one above, look at the hood. Right under that Scotts emblem it states the following; " Manufactured by John Deere". It really is a John Deere - under the seat it states; "John Deere Model 1642 - use John Deere parts". Some of those Christians we are very opinionated about - guess what - they are redeemed by that same Savior!

Very interesting! I'm still trying to figure out who owns the Scotts mower!
Hi CDC - My neighbor right behind me. Your name sake!! Its a great mower.
Great post as usual! I wish all Christians could band together in unity...
I love being a part of my church, but enjoy having friends from others as well.
Robin - I love my church - I enjoy it very much - BUT, there is a sense of denominational pride (strong words!) that sometimes hinders reaching others almost to the point of avoidance. Blogging has been a big help to papa - we love our family.
I hear you Papa! I think denominational pride is something most churches deal with... I've even seen pride from churches because they aren't part of a denomination. Let's just love Jesus and each other!
Oh Robin - we have to - we really have to! If we don't, we are no different that the religious leaders in Jesus day! Can you imagine what would have happened if the religious leaders of Christ's day had accepted him ??? What a different book the bible would have been!
Same thing happened in Biblical times... (1 Corinthians 1:11-13)
Which is why I love that Christ picked such a ragtag group of disciples -
Crossview - They were quite a bunch weren't they! Funny, I am not sure how many of them would have qualified for church membership ----
Amen! =D
I'm way too much like Peter... =P
Crossview - i am not sure we would have even let Peter in the church! I have a little of Thomas in me - I can be a skeptic at times.
As a non-believer I can add that Atheist/Skeptics also do a terrible job of reaching out to the world of believers.
Just like you Papa blogging has been a big help to me. The Internet is my great hope in getting people from different backgrounds talking to each other.
If the world could get along as well as we do in our blogging community there is no problem we couldn't solve.
Papa - it seems I have a little of all the "problem" disciples in me...
Ed - you and I both want what's best for our country and we both see the value in other people that some tend to shun.
Robin - I think we all do and I think satan tries to capitalize on that!
YAY!! Scott is the winner!! oh you didn't mean my hubs...thats okay..so you are mowing the womans grass to play with the mower? am I getting this right? ;)
Darla - in your case Scott is always a winner.
I wish you could have met my neighbor. Her husband was the king of servants - he taught you how to be a servant. He developed hardening of the lungs. The last two years of his life I took over his mowing - and his wife had a nasty stroke - but she has recovered well! She is in her early 70's.
Very good point Papa. We do get caught up in denominational stuff and it takes away from who we are called to be: His people who are to love one another, carry each other's burdens, and edify each other with God's truth--which doesn't change or vary according to one's denomination or background. I love you so much.
GCH - Love you, think about you, wish I could be your dad - YOU ARE my adopted daughter! I do not like church labels - I think they hinder unity.
On the denomination stuff I agree.
Scott's versus John Deer.... Um would have to disagree. I love my John Deer.
We've run the gamut of denominations trying to find a church home. We've determined to find a place that teaches God's word and is healthy, well-balanced.
Thank you for this, Papa.
ANd just so you know...
Scotts Lawn Mowers were previously constructed by Murray which gave them reliability but recently they have started being constructed by the experts at John Deere.

CPK3 - The Scotts I drive IS a John Deere! I take it to a John Deere dealer to be serviced!! Read my post! ha! All the parts are John Deere - the oil filter is black with a Deer on the side! lol
Michelle - a word of caution - no denomination is perfect - but, the fellowship w/similar believers is very important - find them!
Papa, I love this anology! It all boils down to pride doesn't it? We always want others to think that what we have or what we are doing is the best. Sooner or later we must all come to a point of humility . . .
Great post! Be blessed.
Life Adapted, you nailed it...it all boils down to pride...one of the seven deadliest sins that God hates. Trying to impress others, trying to have or be the best. We should seek the humility of Christ, who, though being God, humbled himself so that he might reach others for the kingdom. If we could only learn to be the servants we are called to be. I have such a long way to go to be like Jesus.
LA - pride is so destructive - thats why I am so proud of my strong level of humility! CDC - don't you agree??lol I love my church but I am afraid some are more proud of their denomination then they are humbled by the need to serve.
CDC - one of my "theology" positions that goes contrary to most (Christ's one purpose for coming to earth was to redeem the lost) is that Christ came also to teach us to be servants. Matthew 20:24-28. By the way, your up early - its raining - sleep in!
OK... That's what I get for skimming the post and not reading..
Sorry Papa... Forgive me. I missed the last 3 lines or so completely... Oey...
CPK3 - LOL ! I figured you had missed that !! HA!! It really is a great tractor - :o)
:) you always make me smile!! love you! and Mama!! need to catch up with you two very soon!
I love my brother Carl! he also makes me laugh and smile!
Got up early to watch Ike...have some good friends who live in Pasadena, TX, between Galveston and Houston, who decided to board up their home and hunker down rather than vacate. I'm quite concerned about them. They had their kids and their grandkids and all the pets come over to "party" during the hurricane. They just moved their from Illinois this past year, and it's their "first" hurricane. I hope it's not their last...I hope they survived!
Darla - you make me smile as well! i have to admit that I got a kick out of Carl today!
Carol - hope your friends are okay - Ike is a huge nasty storm. We have family in Dallas area and they are going to get some of the wind and rain from this storm.
Amen, Papa! Fellowship is so important and we have yet to have found that perfect church.
I'm loving the fellowship online these days. ;)
Michelle - I lke to arrive early at church - I like to see my friends, my pastor, the worship team - to smile, laugh, encourage and to worship!
And just so you know, dinner's ready when the smoke alarm goes off. =P
Anyone up for cold-cut sandwiches?
Crossview - you are hilarious! I love cold-cut sandwiches! I was going to suggest gilled ham & cheese, but on second thought ---- maybe not. Folks, go to crossviews blog (see my blog roll) and give her somee cooking tips - or info on how to use a fire extinguisher! lol
Papa, come see! LOL my new post shows you what I did today...and how much hubs trusts me..love you!
Darla - haircut wise - Scott and I are almost twins!! lol
MSU did a GREAT job today in the rain beating FAU 17 - 0!!!!
Keetha - MSU did great! Michigan did lousey - they have a tough year ahead of them.
Hope the Badgers do well - late game tonight !!
I LOVE the way you brought this out. It' sooooo true. Amazing point made very well by using who would ever guess, a lawn mower. Thank you. I will be sharing this one I know.
Rachel - may God help us all as we try to change our world - people will change if they can see Christ in us - and we can be different - even if we are the same.
Oooh my husband would be jealous if he saw this post. Great riding mower either way if you ask me. I'd take either.
Kim - taking either would be the same! Regardless of your denomination - God's Grace is for all!
What a neat post! You are very gifted to be able to see such insight into so many things. God was so good to us, is so good to us and always will be so good to us.Praise His name! Today our pastor said, "The main reason we are here is Jesus." and that should always be our main reason for everything. We are so blessed!
Nana - It is all about Jesus - none of it is about me. God is so good!
